Cardiac Catheter

The cardiac catheter unit consists of two modern labs with biplanar imaging systems and its own dedicated beds for pre- and post-procedure surveillance. The labs are equipped for all diagnostic and interventional procedures including coronary angiography with coronary dilation and stent implantation, if necessary with pressure wire and intravascular ultrasound; umbrella closure of an open oval window; septal branch embolization for hypertrophic-obstructive cardiomyopathy; valvuloplasty for aortic and mitral valve stenosis; percutaneous aortic valve implantation, as well as complete hemodynamic diagnostics including pressure-volume catheter. When possible, the puncture site is closed with a special system to shorten the period of bed rest after cardiac catheterization. As an alternative, access can be via the arm. An emergency team is available around the clock. More than 3000 procedures are performed yearly in the cardiac catheter labs by experienced cardiologists.
